About Owen Equipment

The company started as Ben-Ko-Matic in 1958 as a broom manufacturing equipment company then began making the brooms and selling them direct in 1976 – for the next 30 years, the Ben-Ko-Matic green brooms were in use all over the United States. Ben-Ko-Matic became the Elgin dealer in 1982 and then the Vactor dealer in 1995.

In 2006 the company was sold to Earl Rose and Ron Howard and became “Owen Equipment Company.” The company colors changed from Green to Black, Blue and Silver and it was then that we adopted the company’s 3 C’s that encompass our commitment to our customers and our team.

In 2010 Owen Equipment expanded into California and Nevada with an ownership team of four current Owen team members plus Ed Hodges who leads the day to day operations in California. With the 2010 expansion, Owen now serves a population of over 21 million citizens in the western United States.

Owen Equipment has been very successful by representing only the finest products built for the areas we serve.  Quality products mean lower operating costs and higher performance and customers who are satisfied when they take delivery. We have an extensive rental and demo fleet and Owen Equipment has been one of the top 4 Vactor / Elgin dealers in the United States having sold over 300 new sewer cleaners, hydro excavators, street sweepers and camera systems.  We now service a machine population of over 500 units working out in field.  Every one of those units is backed by the Owen team and we do whatever it takes to keep those machines, and our customers, working to serve our communities.

Owen Equipment has four full-service locations in Portland, Oregon; Kent, Washington; Fairfield, California and Salt Lake City, Utah and we’re stocked with over One Million dollars worth of back up parts ready when you need them. Our parts staff consists of experienced professionals that represent our commitment to communication, courtesy and credibility. We understand the urgency of getting you the right parts, right now, whether it’s for immediate shipment or will call. We continue to be the largest supplier in the west for replacement brushes and brooms, for all makes of models of sweeping equipment.
